Chris Wormley Update

If you haven't seen it already, here's the Toledo Blade article about Chris Wormley's track meet, in which the writer claims Michigan is Chris' #1 school right now. (Note, the part about Wormley is towards the end of the article.)

I've always assumed Wormley to be a slight Michigan lean, even more so after the OSU scandal, but he's never officially said UM leads. Although it's not a quote in the article, it's still slightly encouraging to see them say Michigan as his leader, especially since the Toledo Blade is his hometown newspaper.

Wormley has said in the past that he could decide at the end of summer, or just after his senior season. I think the summer decision is looking more likely now, especially with another Strongside DE already committed (Godin), but who knows, maybe the decision will be accelerated even further.

Sidenote: If Michigan's incredible run of commitments in pairs (all from MI or OH) is to continue, the next commit must be a DE from Ohio! And no, it won't be Adolphus Washington or Sevon Pittman etc.

  1. I hope Wormley pulls the trigger and commits to Michgan. I am in Toledo and I am going to have to catch a high school game to check him out.

  2. Say Benji,
any ideas on Illinois NT Vincent Valentine? He's something of a quiet prospect but has narrowed his list down to Auburn, Florida, Oklahoma, Michigan, and (of course) Illinois. He's rated in the 247 and won't stop talking about how motivated he is and wanting to improve.

  3. i read somewhere that wormley didnt look half as agressive and dominant in his junior year as his sophmore year. Also he looks like he put on some unwanted weight. Is there any truth to this?

  4. Its probably rivals talking shit for some reason they dont like the kid

  5. Well his sophomore year was really good, so obviously expectations were extremely high for his junior season. It's like Adrian Clayborn coming back for his senior year at Iowa, he didn't get any worse, but because his stats were down, everyone assumed he underperformed. When in reality he was just double teamed every play. I don't know the full deal with Wormley, but he's a solid four star prospect at least, and a guy that Michigan still desperately wants.

  6. can't we get someone to take Benji's exams for him so he can focus on recruiting?

  7. I think some concerns about Wormley are justified if he can't handle high school double teams well.

Still, he is an early high 3-star on rivals.com and they usually end up 4-stars at the end. Let's hope for a breakout senior campaign by Wormley. After watching his junior film and comparing it to a ton of other 4-star DEs he didn't stand out to me. Then again, I'm no expert.

  12. It's pretty safe to assume that we'll have a top 15 class the way things are going!! Go Blue!

  13. Ohio DE Adolphus Washington told me that he will be making a trip to Michigan soon. It's safe to assume that he will bring his teammate WR Dwayne Stanford with him as well. Look for that to happen in the next two weeks.
rumors also have been going around QB Gunner Kiel may be visiting again very soon!

it's always good to get a 5* on campus!!!

  14. Today T-Rich was tweeting "Go Bama Nation, I might commit there". With no other mentions of Go Blue or anything else. I really hope he was kidding. I'm going to hold my breath until tomorrow. (I'm starting to turn blue already).

  15. TR is blue as blue can get so dont sweat it. I'm pumped about getting Adolphus Washington on campus soon! I think bucknut fans would lose their minds if we landed him even more so than Dunn!

  16. Kiel narrowed it down to missouri, oklahoma, michigan, alabama. I kept hearing notre dame all the way, I really think we may land him. Michigan is definitely the closest to home. Gardner/Kiel/Morris... we could be having amazing QB debt and competition down the road. TR goes blue tomorrow, Diamond goes blue soon, we may have an amazing finish to this recruiting class.

  17. I hope we land Adolphus Washington & Dwayne Stanford in this class.

  18. I hope we get Kiel, TRich and Wormley this week

  19. Keil is going to oklahoma, so we should all stop putting are hopes in that hes comming here. And i dont know why t-rich has to play games and get me all nervous about his decision.

  20. Getting Washington on campus will be great, but it'll take some incredible circumstances for him to commit before Wormley or another DE does. So many great prospects, so few scholarships.

  21. TRich on his twitter has said he rescheduled his announcement to thursday at 11:45

  22. You always need a grain of salt with what recruits are saying. Some mblogs said Godin would likely redshirt, Godin said in an interview the coaches said he'd play right away, Coach Hoke said in an interview he'd never-ever do 2 things, promise a kid he'd play right away, and promise a kid he'd redshirt. Don't hold your breath for T-Rich, let him have his fun.

  24. Chris Wormley is one of my favorites if I had not told you this before, I have so much respect and confidence in him and that is why I sometimes contact this pay per head call center and bet on his team's victory
