Silent Commit #2

Ok so we have another silent commit...great.

I've just woken up, so I don't know who it is. But I've got a pretty good guess in mind.

So anyway, I'll do some digging around and bring up a list of candidates by tomorrow.

  1. Some most think it's a kid with the initials of JD. But who knows since it's silent and chances are we might not know until signing day!

  2. It's not Diamond he doesn't need to save a spot. Hoke will save a spot til the end.

  3. Benji,

Between Morgen or Reeves who is the better player and which one is a better fit for Michigan?

  4. it's wayne morgan. DB, out of state, not midwest. reeves,standifer,morgan... standifer is midwest, and tomVH and other sources have stated its NOT reeves... it's morgan. mgoblog boards say it should be released next week. impressive offer list for morgan too, and he's thick enough that I think he can play safety if needed.

  5. Wow, that's weird. I didn't say that, but I did. Must be 2 Michaels.

  6. Is it just me or does everyday seem like Christmas lately.......What about Burbridge? We could use a WR and taking another one from that State stronghold would really make my happy.

  7. For all the great news about the verbals, remember they are just verbals and non binding. And should all of these great players sign, no guarantee they will ever be the great success we all hope they will become. But, it's a great feeling to know that Hoke has brought back some sparkle to a program that has been in turmoil for the last 3 seasons...

  8. If it's Wayne Morgan how come they have Armani Reeves silhouette on scout's page for their article on the silent commit. TomVH may just be trying to say that to throw us off. It wouldn't make sense for him to tell us who it isn't to make who it is obvious

  9. i know TR was in contact with morgan over facebook and twitter a few days prior to TR's commitment and i know morgan likes michigan a lot, he probably knows standifer does as well and wants to solidify his spot in this class to the coaches even though he wants to have his "day" when he announces next week or the week after. also, reeves and morgan are the same size and have many pictures that are similar. they discussed the silouette thing on the mgoblog board on the right side of the page... i'm pretty positive it's morgan. that board has a lot of interesting reads on the commitment if people go check it out

  10. Well I will say it's not Jordan Diamond :P

  11. Comparing Morgan and Reeves...I'd probably take Morgan, but purely because he's got the versatility to play Safety as well as corner. Reeves is pure CB.
And looking at our roster, I think we could use a safety.

  12. If we've landed Richardson and Armani or Morgan I wonder if we'll take a 3rd at this point. Maybe if it's a kid as talented as Armani or Morgan we'd take a 3rd DB. I'd like us to stop at 2 and take and extra OL or DL if the first 2 DB's we get are top talents. A ton of good linemen with Michigan leans this year.

  13. Coaches are real high on Standifer. They love his size I think we would take him, but three would be all.

  14. Just an awesome time to be a Wolverine right now. OSU's recruiting is seemingly stalled since the story broke, and MSU is getting burned like hell. GO BLUE

  15. On a different note our QB of the future Shane Morris according to most accounts was the 2nd best QB at the Elite 11 camp yesterday trailing only Gunner Kiel....So I really dont think we need a QB this recruiting cycle..

  16. Do we currently have 2 silent commits, or godin the 1st one and this the 2nd?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hey Edi,

Godin was our fist silent.........so we only have one on deck

    Phil

  18. Hoke's still going to take a QB this year regardless of Shane's commitment. Shane knows this too. They don't want another Drew Henson scenario to play out again @ the QB position. Imagine....Gunner and Shane commiting?? Highly unlikely, but it's fun to imagine.

  19. The title says silent commit #2 is that in reference to when godin was a silent commit or are there two that announced they were silent commits since the commitment of Terry Richardson?

  20. So today at the Nike camp in Ohio a few future Wolverines did well according to scouts and Twitter feeds

@S_Morris12 #2 QB at Elite11! MVP at the Nike Camp! And got invited for the all expense paid trip to orlando for gridiron kings!

BFeldmanESPN Around the most touted QBs in the upcoming SR class, MICH commit Shane Morris was as sharp as any of em

@TomLuginbill Better late than never, ILB James Ross and CB Terry Richardson arrive just in time and were both very impressive.

A couple of guys we were after performed well

TomLuginbill DT Ondre Pipkins is an under the radar guy that has a real chance. Bull in a china shop

TomLuginbill Pipkins is a true two-gapper/plugger that should likley have some more national attention, well known midwest guy. about an hour ago

@CoreyLong Ondre Pipkins from Park Hill, Mo has been tearing up one on ones. Good looking nose guard. about 2 hours ago

TomLuginbill DT Sheldon Day plays with hands and leverage. An inside stump that is active. about an hour ago

  21. QB Shane Morris (De La Salle HS, Mich.)
Morris was one of the more impressive prospects in attendance regardless of class and the left-hander really made some impressive throws with accuracy and confidence. He has good height and is going to continue to add inches and bulk to his late-bloomer's frame. What stood out about Morris was the velocity and power and the manner in which he delivered the ball. Many lefties can really have a long, drawn out delivery that is more ¾ or sidearm, but not Morris. He had a quick stroke, was very accurate and threw as well on the run to both sides as any prospect on Friday. He is a definite Watch List candidate.

  22. Pipkins won the Defensive linemen MVP award from the Nike camp. We need to get this kid into the fold they said he was an absolute beast today.

  23. Even though Shane Morris is a kid, he's the man.

  24. @ Lash

On Twitter RJS said he has been talking to him and every other top DT

  25. Who ar the most likely olinemen to commit early?

    ReplyDelete
  26. If Michigan does not get Kiel (I hope they do) who are real candidates to come to Michigan?

    ReplyDelete
  27. @ Elliot
It's really difficult to say at this point because the kids timelines change so quickly. That said some kids with Michigan leans are Jordan Diamond who put Michigan up front since the beginning, Eric Magnuson is very impressed with Coach Funk, Evan Boehm said (essentially) "Michigan is in my top 3 and I'll tell you the others later," Paul Thurston has been impressed with Michigan from the offer to his visit and still, Kelby Latta and Kyle Dodson are local kids who the coaches can easily lean on, Michigan has been pushing very hard for Zach Banner and they certainly know what they're doing, and Jonah Pirsig is another Big Ten kid who toured all the schools and is visiting all the summer camps but has talked about Michigan as standing out and may take us as his best offer. Hoke would prefer the class to commit more slowly because recruits are still growing and developing and small town kids only get a chance to stand out at combines, ect, and the coaches don't want to miss anybody. They keep making new offers every week.

  28. I really wanted that Michigan could get Kiel, but I guess that is part of deals and stuff that a club has to face, now talking back about Kiel, I read on a best pay per head sports site that he was going to New York, is that true??
