McNamara to Oklahoma

Tight End Taylor McNamara committed to Oklahoma today, which is actually very good news for Michigan. McNamara dropped UM when he decided to visit California instead about a month ago, so we had no chance with him anyway.

His commitment to Oklahoma is good though, because it may discourage Sam Grant from visiting the Sooners, who recently offered the Ohio prospect. Who knows, maybe even Oklahoma is full at TE now (I don't know much about their class/depth chart), in which case Michigan has one less competitor.

  1. Well cool, I guess. I'll take Grant if he commits, I really wanted Pharaoh to be a part of this class, but he had to go and do something dumb and lose his offer.

Nonetheless, I love the direction of U-M's football future, we're in good hands folks and I don't see us losing our top 3 coaches anytime soon, especially Hoke, he's a lifer till he retires.

  2. This has nothing to do with the post, but have you heard anything about Aziz Shittu? I havent heard you mention him at all and a video on ESPN stated that he has shown a lot of interest in UofM.

  3. According to some sources it looks like Pharaoh Brown is going to commit to Oregon.

  4. Again off subject, but has anyone else read the article Sam Webb put out there today? Its titled Michigan recruit Josh Garnett: "I'm like Suh, but on offense" Its a great read. I hope the title was a slip up and he really is Blue ;)

Can't wait for this BCS BOWL GAME

  5. Of course I am biased and want him to come to A2, but lets look at Garnett for a second here.
    1. Best friends with Magnuson, these two are like Danny Glover and Mel Gibson running around the streets of LA causing mischief.
    2. Academics. In the article he basically says that he feels that all of the finalists offer a fantastic Degree (I agree 100%) So I think that is a push.
    3. If it comes down to football, this is a no brainer if you ask me. In terms of dirrection and future I think that Michigan is the obvious choice for a couple reasons.
    a. Hoke has recruited well and turned around a program in one year. Without his players. A true testament to his abilities in the recruiting aspect. Michigan will get back to the pro factory for O-lineman that it once was. Michigan will not skip a beat in terms of advancement. Next year you will have Denard back and another year for Devin to develop. After that you give Gardner the starting role in 2013 and let Morris develop under him as we ease into a more "pro style" under Borges. Morris is a great talent, but I see him taking the job in 2015, maybe 2014. With the line recruits we have now, and possibly in 2013 with Tuley-Tillman, I think you will get guys like ty Isaac and that is encouraging.
    b. Stanford loses Andrew Luck. Im not saying that Stanford will stink next year, but I am saying that I think they hit a ceiling with Luck. It will be VERY difficult for them to sustain that type of success or expectation, while Michigan I think has even more room for improvement.
    c. Notre Dame. We all know how I feel about Notre Dame and how they get recruits, but lets look at this from a pure football standpoint because I think you get a top notch education there. Notre dame is in for a decline here very soon. And I say that with the utmost respect for the current recruits they have coming in, because they really do have some talented guys. However, I cant see NBC keeping this contract with them much longer. With this new Big 10 Pac 12 deal in the works, it will really hurt their schedule in terms of who they can play, and im sorry but games against Pitt and Navy just arent going to be big draws. If they loose out on playing Michigan, MSU, and USC... wow. Thats a kick to the proverbial BCS groin, and they will be a high powered version of Boise St. If they continue to stay as an independant, its going to kill them in the future I assure you.
    4. climate... Edge goes to Stanford, but he has two schools with winters in his top 3 so I dont give much thought into this one.

All in all I see Michigan as having the most to offer from a football point of view, and hope that he becomes part of what could be one of the greatest O-lineman classes in HISTORY.

    Go Blue.

  6. As much as I really want to agree with you C-Note, ND still makes me nervous with Garnett. This discussion has happened before on here about what the appeal of ND, apparently there is just something magical about the place. I think Michigan is the slight favorite but I will only rest easy once he signs that LOI.

As for the Sam Webb article, the title kind of threw me as well, I assume they were referring to the fact that he is a kid being recruited by Michigan, which led them to say Michigan recruit.

  7. Has anyone noticed the rivals article on D. Arnett? Dooley is apparently not allowing him to transfer to either U-M or MSU without waiting a year or he would have to pay for his own tuition.

What an effing jerk, the guy's dad is sick, he's too good of a player to be at a MAC school, have some class you jerk Dooley!

I hope recruits are paying attention and not consider Tenn when choosing a school.

  9. Wow. What a dick move. Not like Tenn is going to see either of the Michigan teams while floating around .500 the next few years.

  10. A very strong statement by Arnett. I think it speaks volumes!

    DeAnthony Arnett-
"Coach Dooley, myself or anybody doesn't know what the future holds for my Father and I feel that I represented the University of Tennessee the best way I can on and Off the field and I feel I have earned the right to be released unconditional to all schools in Michigan. Especially with The University of Tennessee not scheduling any program from the state of Michigan on their current or future schedules. Coach Dooley has singled two programs that I cant get a unconditional release to and that's the University of Michigan and Michigan State University. He told me I can attend any Mac school that I want and if I wanted to attend The University of Michigan and Michigan State University then I would have to pay for school instead of be on the scholarship. I dont know whats next my family cant afford to pay for school and my father health reason isn't good enough excuse for me to attend a BCS school close to home. (According to coach Dooley). Therefore as a student athlete i feel coach Dooley is trying to hinder my success by not allowing me to compete at a bcs level! And he's neglecting the fact that my father is severely ill."

  11. Dooley must be mad that we have blake bars I guess...

Arnett went as far as to post pics of his sik dad on twitter according to something I just read..the fact that any coach would punish a kid becausee he wants to be with an ailing family member sickens me. Like someone said before me, even if he goes to msu I wouldn't mind he just needs to be home now...u gotta be a heartless sob to make someone watch a family member dwindle away from miles away....I hope someone steeps in to fix this

  12. We need to call the Tennessee athletic department . and give them a piece of our mind . I don't care what school he goes to. One day this might be our son or daughter. Wanting to be home for us parents . I'm sick about this ! Let's show our support. Bless that kid n family

  13. It does not surprise me with Dooley's decision it is probably written somewhere in the SEC by-laws to not let anyone go to a competing conference. This is just another reason for disliking Tenn. and the rest of that conference. If any MAC schools were able to compete with the SEC he would not be able to go there either.

  14. Any news on Diamond? I thought I saw he was doing his official visit soon. Could we possible take Diamond, Garnett, Wright, and Reeves or Grant
